This Sunday, September 28, Haitian Ministry is “doing Brunch” after Mass.

It will be a whole meal – there will be breakfast and lunch foods for your eating pleasure.

No charge – free-will offering. Bring your appetites! All money collected will go to buy food for the people of Haiti – additional rice and beans to carry them over after the brutal storms.

We’re celebrating again! Stop in THIS SUNDAY, September 7, from 1:30 to 4:30pm for our annual Coney Island Picnic. Loads of great food, tons of fun for all ages, and fantastic fellowship. As always, there’s no charge - Sacred Heart doesn’t nickel-and-dime you. Bring some side dishes if you want, but don’t feel obligated to do so. Just come, eat, and have a good time.

Our sister parish, Saint Maurice, is preparing for their

Are you coming to the 50th Anniversary Banquet at Maneeley’s? Here are some directions for you:

From Buckland Hills Mall:
North on Buckland Road down to Five Corners into South Windsor.  You will see a big white church across from you.  Go straight onto Sullivan Avenue (Rte194) driving approximately 5 miles.  You will see the Exxon Gas Station on your right: take your immediate right after the station (180-degree turn onto Rye Street.) Maneeley’s is on your left Looks kind of like a church, but nicer.

Coming from elsewhere you can get good directions here.

The annual parish picnic celebrating the 50th anniversary of our parish as well as the 65th birthday of Father Stan will be held THIS SUNDAY Sunday, June 8 in front of the church.

There will be a “Bounce House”, an “Inflatable Batting Cage”, a “Pop-The- Balloon” game, a fishing pond and duck pool for the little ones and a “Dunk Tank” as well as sno-cone and popcorn machines.

Please sign up (if you can) at either of the entrances to the Church to 1) let us know how many people are coming, and 2) to let us know what you would like to bring to the picnic (vegetable dish, salad, or dessert).

No charge, and everyone is welcome no matter whether parishioner or not, and no matter whether you bring food or not. This is for everyone!

Sacred Heart held the first of its Parish Meetings on “Yoking” on June 3, 2008. Here are Rella’s notes from the evening.

As of June 4, Sacred Heart Church in Vernon and Saint Maurice Church in Bolton are officially yoked!

Also, as of that day Father Stan is now the pastor of Saint Maurice Church in Bolton, as well as remaining here as pastor of Sacred Heart.

We wish Father Stan and all the wonderful people of Saint Maurice and Sacred Heart many years of growth together.

Sacred Heart is turning 50! Here is our next event …

A Silent Auction for Gift Baskets and Gift Certificates
Themed gift baskets and gift certificates will be auctioned on May 18th with proceeds benefiting the costs associated with the parish’s 50th Anniversary activities.  Faith Formation Classes and many parishioners have created the themed baskets such as a Chocolate Lover’s Basket, Wine Lover’s Basket, Family Movie Night Basket, etc.  Gift certificates/items from local businesses will also be featured.  The baskets will be on display in our Fellowship Room from May 3rd through May 18th.  Be sure to check them out.

Brunch at HomeTown Buffet
A big “thank you” to all who joined us for brunch at the HomeTown Buffet Restaurant in Manchester on May 17th from 8:00AM through 11:00AM.

An extra-special thank you to HomeTown Buffet who generously donated a percentage of the price of the meals – $174.22 - to the parish for our 50th Anniversary activities. And an additional thank you to all the other diners who happened to be enjoying meals at HomeTown Buffet while our event was happening – an additional $61 was given by their kind donations.
