We are all part of God’s Holy people. This amazing privilege brings with it a host of blessings as we commemorate this year’s 2012 Annual Catholic Appeal theme: “To LOVE and SERVE the LORD.” The Annual Catholic Appeal provides us with an opportunity to extend the ministry of Jesus beyond individual boundaries. It allows us to be the eyes, ears, hands and footsteps of Jesus in ways that truly make a difference in the lives of our neighbors. This is a special time to open our hearts to the Divine grace given to us that has the power to change our hearts in order to carry out God’s will to LOVE and SERVE others.

Every time we serve and sacrifice, intercede and worship love as Jesus loved, we demonstrate that we are God’s holy people called to be generous stewards of all His gifts. Each year, the Diocese uses the Annual Catholic Appeal to help each parish and the Diocese itself become centers of light for the world. The various works and ministries supported by the Appeal are works of justice and charity, reflecting God’s own desire to make us his cooperators, people who reflect God’s light, and reach out to our brothers and sisters in their time of need.

Through the challenging yet rewarding works of our diocesan ministries and agencies, we witness care come alive and help restore people’s hope. From those committed to providing quality care and rehabilitation services for the elderly and sick at St. Joseph Living Center, to the volunteers of the Gift of Grace Prison Ministry Training Program bringing light, truth and merciful love to those incarcerated, to Catholic Youth becoming involved in meaningful service through joint efforts of the Office of Faith Events and Habitat for Humanity, we demonstrate the Christian principles of helping our brothers and sisters most in need.

Soon you will receive information on the broad range of services that are supported by the Annual Catholic Appeal. Please review these materials and prayerfully consider your gift. On the weekend of March 10th & 11th, each parish will present the ACA campaign video so that you may see our ministries in action. Commitment weekend is scheduled for March 17th & 18th. Through your support of the ACA we become rays of hope and love that continue to shine and supply the needs of all God’s people. Our faith helps us to recognize that gratitude is at the heart of generosity.

All that we do as Catholic Christians – our worship, our preaching, our charitable activities and our outreach to all God’s people – is in direct response to this divine mandate: To LOVE and SERVE the LORD. Let us do as he asks, gratefully and generously.

Directions:

Take I-84 East/West to Exit 68 in Tolland. Travel South on CT Route 195 about 6 miles to the University. On your right you will pass a pond called Mirror Lake, there is a light there. You can either turn right here at the light which is Mansfield Road, take your very first left into the parking lot. You then walk up the sidewalk between the Nafe Katter Theatre and the Fine Arts building. The Theatre will be on your left.

If you wish to continue to the next set of lights at the second light turn right onto Bolton Road. You may park at the High School on your left. The Nafe Katter Theatre will be across the street on Bolton Road, and you may walk across the street directly into the Theatre.
